Volkswagen has not had to deal with parts shortage issues lately, and VW Deals are a great discount option for Volkswagen models that are currently in high demand throughout the world. Nissan has stayed out of the news lately but it seems that the company is dealing with a parts shortage that will limit its production capacity for a few days.
The shortage may result in a cost hit to the company that has done well in the United States and in foreign markets. Two plants, one in Smyma, Tenn. and one in Canton, Miss. are going to be closed on Thursday July 15th, Friday July 16th, and on the 19th. The plants in Japan were halted for three days this week as well due to the part shortage.
The Hitachi shortage was caused by a Hitachi supplier who delayed the delivery of integrated circuits. The shortage will cause the loss of production of 15,000 units. There is an estimated loss in the United States but Nissan declined to comment on what that loss would be. Hitachi would resume sending the parts out early next week.
The Smyma plant is responsible for building 550,000 models of Nissan vehicles per year. Some of the models built including the Nissan Pathfinder, Xterra, Maxima, Altima, and Frontier. These models are some of the most popular Nissan models in the world and the Canton plant is another major Nissan vehicle produce as well.
