Hybrid sales are down by 33% for July 2010 when compared to July of last year. While total vehicle sales jumped 5% for July, only 23,841 hybrid vehicles were sold last month. While
Ohio Ford Service should be staying relatively busy as the sales of the Ford Fusion and Ford Escape were decent for July (1,586 and 1,260 respectively), auto manufacturers like General Motors might want to start doing some incentive programs.
Volkswagen AZ Dealer and other VW dealerships across the nation report an increase of 27.5% of total vehicle sales compared to last year. Volkswagen is known for their reliable, fast, fuel efficient cars and they do a great job of marketing and promoting their vehicles. While
Alexandria Hyundai has plans to release the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid soon, they have not yet entered the hybrid market. Nonetheless, Hyundai reported selling 54,106 units for July 2010 compared to only 45,553 last year; good job on the improvement!
General Motors has their work cut out for them. Percentages are not available at this time, but when compared to the rest of the brands, they sold the fewest hybrids. With all of the vehicles in their line up, GM only sold 415 hybrid vehicles last month. The Chevy Silverado sold the most, with 115 units. Second was the Cadiallac Escalade, and it sold 104 units. Next came the Tahoe, the GMC Yukon Hybrid, the GMC Sierra Hybrid, and the
Chevy Malibu Hybrid only sold 14! Even the Saturn Aura Hybrid sold 4 units, but that brand has been discontinued so there aren't many left on the lots even. People are cautious to buy discontinued brands even though the warranty still is valid.
The big winner for July was
Toyota and Lexus, together accounting for 73.9% of the total hybrid sales in the United States for July 2010. The Prius sold an impressive 14,102 units despite recalls still scaring consumers; perhaps they are past the recall hiatus?
