If you want a car that is ultra responsive, you will be impressed driving the 2011 Mazda2. However, make sure you go with the manual transmission or you will be unhappy with not only your loss of fuel economy but the four-speed tranny is a little rough during acceleration and downshifting. The 1.5 liter engine only puts out 100 horsepower, but because the car only weighs 2,300 pounds, you still have the sporty nature feeling. You can expect to get 28 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway with the manual transmission; it goes down to 27 city and 33 highway for the automatic.
The storage capacity isn't all that impressive; you get 13.3 cubic feet of cargo room. Once you put the 60/40 backseats down, which don't fold all the way flat either, you still only have 27.8 cubic feet. Case in point, the Honda Fit with the backseats folded flat gives you a whopping 57.3 cubic feet! Taller drivers will fit in the front seat, but might complain that the steering wheel lacks an important telescoping feature. The back seats are rather tiny, so hopefully you won't be carrying passengers regularly.
