UAW Wages Rise at Mitsubishi Plant;

Mitsubishi Motors will not be able to reach a deadline on a contract it has with the UAW. The automaker will have to raise wages for UAW workers at its Normal, Illinois plant. Those workers who are represented by the UAW will have their base wages increased. Models produced at the plant are in competition with models sold at Ford Dealer Denver businesses. Mitsubishi had a collective bargaining agreement with the UAW in 2008, and it had until today to tell the UAW the new vehicle that it would be building at the plant. Also, if you need your Toyota vehicle to have an oil change, check out Toyota Quick Lube Dealer Los Angeles if you live in the area.

With no announcement on a new vehicle, such as those which are found at Mercedes-Benz Dealer Pittsburgh dealerships, the UAW wages increased at the plant. The members of th Local 2488 of the UAW voted down an extension to extend the deadline for the new vehicle announcement. Mitsubishi said that the company was disappointed with the results of the vote and that the reason why the company has hesitated on the announcement of a new vehicle was due to uncertainty in the economy. Mitsubishi models have not been major sellers compared to other automakers over the past few years.

The company said that it was unable to announce a new model because of the current economic scenario. The Normal Illinois plant produces the PS platform which is becoming outdated. This platform is used on models such as the Mitsubishi Galant, Eclipse, Spyder, and Endeavor. These vehicles were at one point hot sellers in the United States but they have become outdated and replaced with other models. U.S. sales have risen 3 percent over the first seven months of 2010, however Mitsubishi sales are down 2 percent for 2010.
